Philippians 4:12 “I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty, I have learned the secret of being content in every situation whether well fed or hungry whether living in plenty or want.”
Everyone talks about gratitude in the month of November. Of course Thanksgiving is upon us and it is a time where most of us think about what we’re thankful for and our blessings. I think that part of being thankful is being content. When we seek contentment in our circumstances our heart and our mind arrive at peace. It can be a struggle to find contentment in those times of need, especially if you are a single mom trying to provide for her family. When our family is in need we tend to go into full on stress mode. But, if we allow ourselves to find thanksgiving in our blessings and know that God is sovereign and is in control of every situation we can find contentment. There is great spiritual growth in those times of need and famine. Your faith is strengthened, your relationship with God becomes more intimate and you learn how to rely on him. God sustains us through times of need and plenty and there is great comfort in believing in his provision. Through Jesus Christ we blessed assurance in knowing that although circumstances in life are always changing we have can have a steadfast hope in the promise of our salvation and eternal life. If we keep this in our heart and mind everyday the peace of contentment follows.
