God’s Not Dead 2: He’s Surely Alive! Released Easter 2016!

I love getting the scoop on upcoming movies and I was especially excited to find out that, “God’s Not Dead 2: He’s Surely Alive,” is being released in theaters Easter Weekend 2016! If you saw its prequel than you already know why you’ll want to catch this in theaters. In today’s cultural climate this movie about faith and what it means to stand in your faith is right on time!

The film takes audiences back to Hope Springs, Arkansas to Martin Luther King Jr. High School. Grace Wesley a beloved history teacher played by Melissa Joan Hart shares her love of teaching, her love of life, and her love of people which all are manifested through her love for Christ. So when Brooke a student mourning over the loss of her brother, finds Grace at a coffee shop, their conversation naturally leads to Grace sharing with Brooke the hope she finds in Christ. However, conflict arises when Brooke asks an honest question about Jesus during a lesson Grace is teaching about Dr. King and Gandhi. Not everyone is happy with Grace’s answer which eventually leads her into trouble with the principal (Robin Givens) and superintendent. Once they team up with an attorney who has no love for God, Grace faces an epic court case. She teams up with a sympathetic and charismatic defense lawyer (Jessie Metcalfe) and faces the biggest battle of her life that could cost her the career she loves—and expel God from the classroom once and for all.

God’s Not Dead 2 features a star-studded cast that includes: Melissa Joan Hart (Melissa & Joey), Jesse Metcalfe (Dallas), David A. R. White (God’s Not Dead), Hayley Orrantia (The Goldbergs), Ernie Hudson (Ghostbusters), Sadie Robertson (Duck Dynasty), Robin Givens (Head of The Class), Fred Thompson (Law & Order), Maria Canals-Barrera (Cristela), with Pat Boone and Ray Wise(Robocop).

Catch the Premiere of Signed Sealed Delivered From Paris With Love On Hallmark Tonight!

Signed Sealed Delivered: From Paris With Love Premieres Tonight at 9 pm ET/PT 8 CT and 11 AM ET on The Hallmark  Movies and Mystery Channel!

If you’re looking for a warm hearted movie to curl up on the couch with a bowl of popcorn to then you’ll want to catch the new movie, “Signed Sealed Delivered: From Paris With Love.” I had the pleasure of previewing this movie written by Martha Williamson who also worked on Touched by an Angel. This is a refreshing  story centered around four wonderfully written characters. Oliver (Eric Mabius) a lead postal detective  with a charming old world demeanor. He’s waiting patiently for his wife, Holly (Poppy Montgomery) who has left him to live in Paris to pursue her dreams. Oliver copes through his faith and taking his job with his co-workers very seriously whose goal is to deliver letters that have been lost through the postal mail. Shane,(Kristin Booth), Rita (Crystal Lowe) and Norman ( Geoff Gustafson) who work along with Oliver are also delightful and are navigating through their own feelings of love and their own faith.

Life gets shaken up when Holly arrives in town and Oliver has to face the fate of his own marriage. The free spirited Rita and the love able and shy Norman dance around their feelings for one another while Shane can’t deny that her friendship with Oliver is special and different, but respects the sanctity of his marriage. This movie is beautifully complex and   The relationships are woven together intricately in a meaningful way that will draw you into these character’s lives. The movie explores the fragility and strength of love along with  the forgiveness that it requires.

When the movie was over I found myself wanting to watch more and luckily I can because it will be a 10 part series on Hallmark! I can’t wait to see how these postal detectives deliver letters that will give us more stories of love and faith and to see what happens between Oliver and Shane and Rita and Norman.

Dogs of War Gets A Hero Salute!

Every once in awhile I’m given the opportunity to review a new show that is coming on television. I’ve been selective about what I review because of the raunchiness that seems to have evaded television and frankly I don’t want to waste my time or to even present it to my readers. But, I was given the opportunity to view Dogs of War a new show on A&E that will be on at 10 pm ET on Sundays starting on November 16th and I can’t wait to watch the 2nd episode. If it  is anything like the 1st episode than A&E has landed on a hit. Dogs of War is about Jim Stanek a combat veteran who comes home and is struggling with PTSD. He looks into getting a service dog, but finds out that they are extremely expensive, but he doesn’t let that stop him. Instead he opens up a non profit called Paws and Stripes that saves dogs from kill shelters and he trains them as service dogs for veterans at little or no cost.

We meet Michael another veteran who fought in Iraq also suffering what so many veterans who come back from fighting endure, emotional, mental and physical suffering. Michael breaks my heart and reminds me of how much the men and women in this country sacrifice to protect our freedom and how much they can lose in the process. It is heart wrenching to hear him talk about how he wasn’t ready to be discharged, and how he wanted to fight the war so his kids didn’t have to, but because of an ambush his was thrown  head first through the vehicle he was driving and then had to run through fire and basically they decided he wasn’t deployable. He described it so pointedly when he said in the accident when he flew out of that window a part of him flew out that he hasn’t been able to get back. Michael too is looking for a service dog and he and Jim have an instant connection.

Now, Jim’s job is to find a dog for Michael. You see the process of Michael meeting two dogs. I was taken aback of how emotional it was for Michael. Michael ended up passing on the first dog, and you could see the disappointment on his face. When Tennessee comes in you can sense the connection and the relief that Michael feels. He renames the dog a Cherokee name that means, “my 6,”  because that means he will always have his back. Don’t you want to cry! I did. Your quickly reminded of why dog is called a man’s best friend.

The show also takes a look at the dynamics in the family and how his wife Jennifer, also deals with the new addition because she for so long has been doing the job that his dog will eventually take over to a certain extent. In the last 8 years Jennifer has been by Michael’s side constantly. As Michael says it isn’t all fun and games, there is training involved and a lot of trust is required by both him and the dog, but when you see it successfully happening you just want to root him on! Michael still struggles with PTSD, that is the reality, but you see hope in his eyes and actions, which  is what Jim is trying to give back to these veterans who gave so much and lost so much. Jim cares about the dogs and the vets in a way that is admirable and honorable.

I encourage you to watch Dogs of War on November 16th. It is fitting that the premiere airs Tonight at 10:00 PM ET on A&E on Veterans Day. Here is the Trailer.
