“A Dog’s Purpose,” A Touching Family Movie for All Dog Lovers!

Celebrate Your Dog’s Purpose!

Take the Kids to See, “A Dog’s Purpose,” on  January 27th!

It’s amazing how dogs have an ability to love you unconditionally. I had no plans on getting a pup, matter of fact I was completely against adding another responsibility to my already overflowing plate. But, after some coercing for years from my daughter, I ended up making one of the best decisions of my life… our dog Winter! Winter an adorable Shorkie has stolen my heart and has made our family complete. I can’t imagine her not cuddling up to me every day. Winter is the first one to greet me at the door, she’s loyal, fun, and is the sweetest addition to our life. We had no idea  what we were missing before her little paws trotted into our life.  Look at this face!

I’m so excited about the January 27th release of “A Dog’s Purpose.” A heartwarming movie the whole family can enjoy and a sweet tribute to the pets that add love to our families.  Told from the perspective of “everybody’s best friend” the film highlights the importance of familial bonds, and the unconditional love we have for our best friends.

One of the coolest things about, “A Dog’s Purpose, ” is their partnership with the non-profit Best Friends Animal Society, and photos of dogs available for adoption. You can also add your dog to the website! Check out the trailer below and mark your calendars for this touching film. Oh and go give your pup an extra hug!

One of the greatest gift you can give another human being isn’t anything materialistic, it isn’t money it is simply to inspire them. When I reflect on the people who have inspired me some have been famous, but mostly they were humble, every day people who had the gift to inspire me through their words, actions and mainly their heart. My grandmother was a huge inspiration to me, although most would say she lived a pretty ordinary life, but I thought she was extraordinary. She lived her life being kind to all people, whether she knew them or not, she shared her faith in the most beautiful way, she was never judgmental and through her softness was a fierce strength that shined through. Although gone for almost seven years now, she still guides me everyday. That’s inspiration! Leaving those seeds that germinate even when you are no longer around.

When I think of inspiration, I also think of people with the odds stacked against them, who have been knocked down or have a disability or difficult circumstances and they overcome it with determination, grace and hard work. I think of my lovely friend who is in a wheelchair, but works out consistently to stay fit (much more than I do!) and has done extraordinary things regardless of the odds against her. I think fondly of a man from my church who is blind, yet gets up in front of our congregation on Sundays and leads our songs with his booming powerful voice, praising God. Then I think of his wife who is also blind, and gets on the metro in rush hour to go work in DC, which can be quite the challenge even for those of us who have our vision. I’m inspired by my friend, a single mom of a five-year old who is battling MS, but every day she takes care of her son, striving to give him everything he needs, never giving up, even when the exhaustion can bring her to her knees.  The courage and will of all these precious people inspire me to reach higher, to be better, and to examine myself to see how I can be an inspiration to others around me.

Need a little inspiration? Below is a clip of Rachel, a young adult from the cast of Born This Way on A&E. She faces the obstacles that come along with having Down Syndrome with courage, determination, and love and is a picture of inspiration. You can’t watch this and not be inspired. In these trying times I encourage you to surround yourself with inspiration whether it is with people, activities, and even television series like Born This Way that airs on A& E  10 PM/9 c.

Watch the Exclusive Trailer of “Born This Way,” Premiering Tuesday, July 26th on A&E

Catch, “Born This Way,” on A&E  Tomorrow at 10/9 c!

I must admit, I’ve been avoiding watching television these days like the plague. It just hasn’t been appealing to me with all the politics, anger, aggression, and bad news, it’s been somewhat depressing, so I’ve kept my distance. But,Born This Way,” on A&E  has given me a reason to dust off the remote control and tune in into a reality show that is inspiring, funny, heartwarming and endearing. I’m normally not a fan of reality t.v. however A&E has broken the mold in the most beautiful way!

“Born This Way,” follows the lives of seven young adults with Down Syndrome as they pursue their dreams, navigate through romantic relationships, and  explore friendships. It is evident quite early on in,Born This Way,” that although Down Syndrome is undeniably a part of their life it doesn’t limit them from pursuing their passions. We have these unfortunate expectations in society, that when someone has a disability that they are starkly different from us, when in fact, this couldn’t be further from the truth!  You’ll find yourself quickly, falling in love with the cast and their parents because of their raw honesty with their struggles and their joys.

One of my favorite quotes, is in the season opener, when one of the parents says,  It’s important to recognize, even though we all have abilities and we all have disabilities, that we don’t define and describe ourselves by those,” which so accurately reflects the heart of this meaningful show. In a world where everyone seems so focused on our differences, “Born This Way, reminds us that although we are all different, there are similarities that we all share such as; the desire to be loved, the bonds of friendship, disappointments, challenges, successes and well…just life.

Watch the Preview and Tune in tomorrow, Tuesday, July 26th at 10 PM/9 PM c for “Born This Way.”

Get ready to fall in love with this lovely, funny and talented cast.

If you loved God’s Not Dead, then you’ll be thrilled to know that God’s Not Dead 2  is on its way to movie theaters! God’s Not Dead 2 is the sequel to the highest-grossing independent faith film of 2014. In a world that begs us to conform to its ways this movie is so relevant to a faith believers walk.

Need Some Inspiration? See The New Movie Release “Greater” The Story of Brandon Burlsworth

Greater one-sheet

With 2016 underway we can all use a little inspiration to reminds us that nothing is impossible when our faith is rooted in Christ, we have a dream and a passion to work towards making our dream a reality. You won’t want to miss,“Greater,”  the story of Brandon Burlsworth, the unlikely star football player at the University of Arkansas whose inspiring life and legacy taught family, friends and fans about the greater purposes and lasting impact of a life lived for God.

Brandon Burlsworth (newcomer Chris Severio) had a dream, to play for the Arkansas Razorbacks, but wasn’t considered even good enough to play Division I football. That didn’t deter Brandon. Instead fueled by faith, determination and the support of his older brother Marty (Neal McDonough) and his struggling single mom, Barbara (Leslie Easterbrook),  he takes a huge risk by walking on to the team in 1994. He succeeds in the face of staggering odds, and by the end of his college career, Burlsworth was not only a star player in the SEC, but he was also a 1st Team All-American.  He was then taken as an early pick in the 1999 NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts. Then tragedy hits and the real test of faith comes that no one saw coming.

Take a look at the trailer for, “Greater,” and make a date to see it with your friends, family, or church on January 29th.

Need Inspiration? See WOODLAWN!

“WOODLAWN”

A MOVIE WITH A MESSAGE

woodlawnmov

I had the pleasure of being able to view the movie, “WOODLAWN,” before it hit movie theaters last Friday. This was by far one of the most inspiring, touching and exhilarating films I’ve seen in 2015. If you are a football fan you will love this movie, if you are a Christian you will love this movie, if you just need to be inspired you will love this movie…YOU WILL JUST LOVE THIS MOVIE! From Pure Flix (GOD’S NOT DEAD, DO YOU BELIEVE?), Roma Downey and Mark Burnett (THE BIBLE, SON OF GOD) and the Erwin Brothers (MOM’S NIGHT OUT, OCTOBER BABY) comes WOODLAWN, a high school football drama and a remarkable true story that happened in the early 1970s in Birmingham, Alabama when racism and hate ran rapid. This movie shows us that when a  spiritual awakening takes place love and forgiveness replaces hate and anger. It reminds you that when people bond in love and the unity of Christ they can overcome any obstacles, hate simply does not stand a chance. Something we all need to reminded of in this day and age.

The movie centers around the Woodlawn football team players who are struggling not only on the football field, but with one another. Until one day at football camp when they are introduced to Hank, a sports chaplain who ends up practically converting the whole football team into accepting Christ. This spiritual awakening has a ripple effect that is beautiful to watch as you see barriers being broken, respect growing, and sportsmanship at it’s finest. At the heart of the movie is Tony Nathan (Caleb Castille) a black star running back who’s humble nature is absolutely endearing to watch. As the two rivaling teams get ready to battle at the packed stadium of 42,000 fans you realize just how significant this moment in time was to a city who had been ravaged by racism and hate. This is a Christian film about hope and faith, but anyone can relate to this storyline because it crosses all divides.  I was blown away by this film and it will definitely be in my movie library.  If there is one movie you see this year, WOODLAWN should be the one! Take a look at the trailer and plan to see it soon!
