Hey ladies! I hope your summer is fun and relaxing! I love connecting over cyberspace, but I’ve been thinking about creating a group for single moms to meet up, support one another, discuss real life issues, talk about scripture, share stories, laugh and have some fun. I think this meetup could be powerful and a great way to build community and connect with one another. How does that sound to you?
I’m thinking we would meetup once a month or every other month depending on everyone’s schedules at a public place like a coffee shop, park, etc. Eventually we could even place some fun stuff like movies, dinner, or retreats. I always write about community and the importance of single moms being able to connect and share their experience, I think this is a step in that direction.
If you live in Washington DC metro area and you’re interested in making this happen either:
I hope everyone had a great weekend. After a pretty rough week I was in need of a couple of restful days. Days that went slowly, that were filled with food, lots of laughter, friends and fellowship and by the grace of God I was granted my desire. Friday was spent lounging on the couch with my friend Christina after eating a healthy dinner and then indulging in popcorn and movies. Saturday, was double the fun with Dawn and Christina and we worked on an exciting new venture, ate sushi and watched movies. Sunday, I got myself to church and well, I have to write about that experience in another post. Later I went to Christina’s house because you know we hardly see one another! LOL She had made a lovely dinner and then we had some decadent dessert. My weekend can be summed up in one word gratitude. I am so unbelievably grateful for the love of those around me and I hope they know they make my life richer.
“Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe,29 for our “God is a consuming fire.” Gratitude. We all should be grateful right? Grateful for our life, our children, our Lord, and our salvation. But, when the storms come rolling in and oh do they! It is easy to forget about all the positive things in our life and dwell in what is wrong with our life. Instead of being grateful for the home we have we may complain because it is too small. Instead of being grateful for the car we have we may rant about the amount of gas it takes to fill up the tank. I know this because I’m guilty of doing it! I don’t mean to, but I do. I”m ashamed to admit I forgot how God has shown me has grace, forgiveness, and goodness to me over and over even though I don’t deserve it!
I know alot of single moms out there are struggling because I read your emails. I know just people in general are struggling! I want us to try to take our eyes off of our struggles for just a few moments a day and focus on what we are grateful for. Hence, I want to ask you to participate in ” The Gratitude Project.” Each day I’d like to ask you to share one thing you are grateful for and it can be anything, for example, maybe you’re grateful for a cup of coffee to start your day out! Or maybe it can be some small miracle God performed in your life and you want to share it to uplift others. That is my hope here! I want us to share one thing no matter how big or small it is to BE GRATEFUL for in our life.
Let’s take our focus and shift it from our worries to our simple gratitude. Each day I will create a post that will say for example, “Gratitude Project Day #1,” and you post one thing. The post will be on my blog and on the Facebook Page, please join if you haven’t at: http://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/120048504702316/
My overall hope for this blog is to build a community of women who share with one another, uplift each other, and participate in God’s ministry of raising our children and obeying in him. Have a great day and let’s share!!! You never know how your post is going to effect someone else!
