DIY Carpet Cleaner and Stain Remover
Short on time but tired of seeing those mystery stains on your carpet? This cleaning solution can be made with just three ingredients and is perfect for cleaning spills and stains from your carpet. The best part? All it takes is five minutes to get your carpet looking like it did the first time you saw it.
Ingredients and Supplies:
- An Iron
- A clean,
light-colored cleaning rag
- A small
bucket or cup
- ¼ cup
- ¾ cup water
- 3-5 drops of
NOTE: This process transfers the stain to the rag — use one you don’t mind staining! You should NOT use this method if you have red wine, berry juice, or permanent marker stains.
- Mix your
vinegar, water, and dishwashing liquid in the bucket or cup.
- Soak your
rag in the liquid, and wring out.
- Place the
damp rag on your mystery stain and iron it for 5-10 seconds.
- Lift the
cloth to see if your stain is gone. If there’s still more residue in your
carpet, iron again, using a clean portion of the cloth.
