Scriptures for the Homemaker In You!


One of my favorite roles is being a homemaker. It is an incredible privilege to create a home for my daughter and to share it with others. A home built on the foundation of Christ and biblical principals is a gift to yourself, your family and friends and  to those who enter. Homemaking isn’t always easy it takes time, commitment, love and effort, but the bible gives us some practical verses on homemaking and hospitality that will help shape our home so that it has the greatest influence on those we love.

Make God the Cornerstone of your Home

Psalm 127:1 “Unless the Lord builds the house, its builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain.”-

A Successful Home is Built on the Wisdom of God

Proverbs: 24:3-4 “By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established; through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures.”

Home is Where You Provide for the Needs of  Your Family

1 Timothy 5:8-10 “If anyone does not provide for his relatives and especially his immediate family, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

Invite Outsiders in Your Home and Take Advantage of the Opportunity to Fellowship

Colossians 4:5 “Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders make the most of every opportunity.”

Practice the Fruit of the Spirit in Your Home

Galatians 5:22-23 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

Use Your Home to Bless Others

Romans 12:13 “Share with God’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.”

Use Your Gifts Wisely to Serve in Your Home with A Cheerful Heart and Grace

1 Peter 4:9 ” Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.”

Homemaking Requires Vigorous Intentional Work

Proverbs 31:17 “She sets about her work vigorously her arms are strong for her tasks.”

Homemakers are Aware Over the Happenings in Their Home and Protect and Guard it with Diligence

Proverbs 31:27 “She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.”

Our Home Should Be A Place Where We Put a Priority on Looking to the Needs of Others

Philippians 2:4 “Each of you should look not only to your own interests but also to the interests of others.”

Create a Spirit of Unity In Your Home that Glorifies Christ Through Your Heart and Mouth

Romans 15:5 “May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus , so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

God Gives You The Strength to Abound in Good Work of Homemaking

2 Corinthians 9:8 “And God is able make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”

Building a Godly Home Requires Patience, Instruction, Correction and Discipline

2 Timothy 4:2 “Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage-with great patience and careful instruction.”

Make Your Home a Place Where Forgiveness is Given Generously

Colossians 3:13 “Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.”

When You Get Weary Remember You’re Building Your Home to Glorify Christ

Colossians 3:23 “Whatever you do work at it with all your heart as working for the Lord not men

Strive to Live in Harmony, Staying Humble and Always Showing Compassion Making Your Home a Safe Space

1 Peter 3:8 “Finally all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble.’
