Proverbs 2:11 “Discretion will protect you, and understanding will guard you.
Everyday we’re given the opportunity to make choices. God give us free will and what we do with it is up to us. We live in a society where everything and anything is available to us, but that doesn’t mean it is beneficial for us. In fact it can be downright harmful to us physically, emotionally, and spiritually. We have to be especially diligent about avoiding those thing that can kill the spirit. How do we choose and how do we learn to choose wisely? We learn to use wisdom by using discretion. Discretion comes from knowing and applying the principals and the Word of God to our lives. If we don’t know the Word intimately then our discretion will be faulty. God knew we’d face temptations and difficult choices so he gave us instruction, but it’s our responsibility to digest it and practically use it in the situations we face. Our understanding of God’s Word will guard us from the junk that the world tries to feed us. Every word in the bible is inspired by God and when we understand it and teach our children these principals it is a guard of protection against the pitfalls of sin.
