“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.”
When we experience hardships it is easy to become discouraged, to feel hopeless, and to lose faith. But, the scriptures tell us, “do not lose heart,” because our troubles are momentary, they may not feel like it, but they are. This too shall pass. Our troubles build our character, it teaches us perseverance, patience, and it strengthens our faith. In the book of James we are told when we withstand our troubles we will receive the crown of life. See, our troubles test our faith, they mature us spiritually, and renews us inwardly when we see how God continually works in our life. Although on the outside it appears you are taking a beating (which you probably are) inwardly you are being renewed and prepared for eternal glory.
Remember that our troubles are temporary just as our time on earth is. But, they too have their purpose. It may be difficult for you to find joy in your trials, but keep your sights set on not what is temporary, but what is permanent. To all you single moms, know that the challenges you face are building your character and training you to be a Soldier for Christ!
